Abstract

In this paper, we consider a rotavirus epidemic model with vaccination, treatment and health education campaigns as control variables. We derive and analyse the conditions for optimal control using the optimal control theory and the Pontryagin’s Maximum Principle. We solve the optimal control problem numerically using fourth order Runge-Kutta scheme. Results show that multiple control strategies are more effective than a single control strategy.
