Mathematical model on the transmission dynamics of anthrax and rabies co-infection on wild herbivores and carnivores
Abstract
This study is to understand the dynamics of the co-infection of anthrax and rabies in wild herbivores and carnivores. A co-infection mathematical model is developed and its biological well-posedness is studied by proving properties of boundedness and non-negativity of the solutions. The basic reproduction numbers for the model is computed. The equilibrium points were identified. The qualitative analysis reveals that the disease free equilibrium of the sub-models were locally and globally asymptotically stable while the co-infection model is locally asymptotically stable but globally unstable. The dynamics of the model is studied using numerical approach and the impact of some of the parameters are studied.
